| La Romanina was first opened in 2002 on Sukapibarn 3 Rd. by K. Somboon Intarachatorn. The wife of the former Commercial Councillor to the Thai Embassy in Italy, she lived in Rome for more than 14 years. Her younger sister and co-owner, K. Poonsri Rhueskul also lived in Italy for 5 years studying the Italian language and interior design. As they both love cooking, they loved to learn the different Italian recipes from their neighbours, friends or even from the restaurants where they ate!! |
|
| About a year after opening this small "Trattoria" (home cooking, small restaurant) it became clear that the place was too small to serve their customers which were increasing in numbers everyday!! So they decided to move to the new location in Soi Langsuan providing more space and a convenient Downtown Bangkok location. Collaborating with family and friends, the new restaurant did very well establishing itself as one of the premier Italian restaurants in Bangkok. |

Three years later and La Romanina moved across Downtown to the heart of Bangkok's dining and shopping area. On Sukhumvit Soi 39 La Romanina is only 350m away from the Prompong BTS station and the Emporium shopping mall. The new restaurant resides in a two storey house which has been transformed on the outside to resemble a Tuscan home. However, when you go inside, it is more like the interior of a celebrity's home with exquisite furniture and decoration. This fusion of ideas was created by K. Patcharin Oldham, niece and business partner of K Somboon and K. Poonsri. Having flown smooth as silk for Thai Airways for more than 20 years, she has combined her experiences of global travel, eating, culture and life styles with her talent for interior design and first class service to give you more than what you might expect in La Romanina! |
| The Spanish menu has been added, thanks to our latest partners who are K. Poonsri's long time friends from Alicante, Spain. They own several famous restaurants back in Alicante and they love to introduce some traditional food from their home town - especially ''Paella'', "Lomo" and the delicious "Jamon Iberico" the whole pork leg ham, imported direct from Spain. Tapas dishes have been introduced at "El Vino" wine bar downstairs, one of our customers' favourite rooms. |
| So come to discover with us this new experience of Italian & Spanish dining La Romanina is a beautiful place and eating is believing!
